Czy natura potrzebuje praw, które stawiałyby ją na równi z nami? I jaką rolę może odegrać dźwięk i słuchanie w budowaniu na nowo naszych relacji ze światem przyrody?

Beyond Listening 3: Resounding the Rights of Nature to międzynarodowe sympozjum poświęcone prawom natury, ekologii akustycznej oraz temu, jak poprzez dźwięk i słuchanie możemy inaczej spojrzeć na relacje między ludźmi a światem więcej-niż-ludzkim.

Przez pięć dni Trójmiasto stanie się miejscem spotkania artystów i artystek, badaczy i badaczek, aktywistów i aktywistek oraz przedstawicieli i przedstawicielek instytucji obywatelskich z różnych części świata. Wspólnie będą szukać nowych – a także przywracać dawne – sposoby rozumienia i odczuwania naszej zależności od środowiska, w którym żyjemy.

Does Nature — its various ecosystems and species — need rights to stand as equals with us, the one species that draws and polices the very boundary between human and natural worlds? What role could sound and listening play in rewiring how we relate to nature through law, but also everyday practices, creative initiatives, ethical responsibility, and the respect of shared values?

Beyond Listening: Re-Sounding Rights of Nature is an international symposium co-organized by the Central European Network for Sonic Ecologies (CENSE) and the Nadbałtyckie Centrum Kultury (NCK) in Gdańsk. Building on a series of meetings launched in Budapest in 2018, it brings together artists, researchers, activists, and civic institutions who use sound and listening to rethink how we coexist, with each other and with other species, across the built and natural environments we share.

For five days, the Tricity area will become a meeting place for artists, researchers, activists, and representatives of civic institutions from different parts of the world. Together, they will explore new – and revisit older – ways of understanding and experiencing our dependence on the environment we live in.
