radio in between spaces as a platform for sonic lectures, live performances, conversations, compositions, documentaries and audio plays is dedicated to the interplay between sound, public and private space, activist and artistic practices.
international sound artists and experimental musicians, philosophers and theorists, critics and journalists address questions of foreignness and proximity, solidarity and dissonance, vibration and materiality, meaning and noise, permeability and resistance.

Background “In Between Spaces”

Far from producing a homogenous cultural space, the programme series In Between Spaces generates new aesthetic hybrids and cultural spaces of possibility between pop and avant-garde, tradition and experiment.
It takes a sensitive look at the so-called 'global music’ in a world of multiple moderns, in which rural life, urbanity and digital networking are closely intertwined. Far from creating a homogeneous cultural space, this process generates new aesthetic hybrids and cultural possibilities between pop and avant-garde, tradition and experiment. In collaboration with the Academy of the Arts of the World Cologne the multi day event „In Between Spaces: Indie Idiosyncracies”, dedicated to experimental music from North Africa and the Middle took place in October 2019.
