„SUPERSAM + 1” to cykl wystąpień mistrzowskich. Projekt koncentruje się głównie wokół muzyki, ale przewiduje też udział innych form wyrazu, takich jak: performance, multimedia, monodram. Podczas „SUPERSAM + 1” prezentowani są uznani artyści polscy i zagraniczni nastawieni na działania autorskie, eksperymentalne i innowacyjne.

„SUPER” w tytule oznacza, że program budowany będzie w oparciu o artystów uznanych – mistrzów. „SAM” mówi oczywiście o występie solowym, ale i o twórczym osamotnieniu. „+ 1” w tytule oznacza, że każdy wieczór uwieńczony jest występem w duecie. W większości przypadków artyści spotykają się na scenie po raz pierwszy.

ALEXANDER VON SCHLIPPENBACH
rozpoczął edukację muzyczną w wieku lat ośmiu, a następnie studiował na Staatliche Hochschule für Musik w Kolonii z kompozytorami Berndem Aloisem Zimmermannem i Rudolfem Petzoldem. Jest jednym z najważniejszych liderów zespołów free jazzowych w Europie, a muzyka, którą tworzy łączy w sobie elementy free i współczesnej klasyki. Jego gwałtowne solówki często tworzą pomost pomiędzy tymi elementami w jego kompozycjach. W 1966 roku Schlippenbach założył The Globe Unity Orchestra, aby wykonać utwór “Globe Unity”, który powstał na zamówienie Berliner Jazztage. Z orkiestrą pracował do lat 80-ch. W 1963 roku grał z Guntherem Hampelem, a w latach 1964-67 był członkiem kwintetu Manfreda Schoofa. W 1967 roku zaczął zakładać swoje własne zespoły, w tym trio z Evanem Parkerem i Paulem Lovensem oraz duet z Svenem-Ake Johanssonem. W drugiej połowie lat 80-ch założył Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, w skład której weszli wybitni europejscy muzycy awangardowego jazzu jak np.: Evan Parker, Paul Lovens, Kenny Wheeler, Misha Mengelber i Aki Takase. W latach 90-ch pracował w duetach z Tonym Oxley’em, Samem Riversem i Akim Takase.

WACŁAW ZIMPEL
urodził się i wychował w Poznaniu. Już od najmłodszych lat w jego życiu istniała muzyka. Jego pierwsze muzyczne wspomnienie to jego ojciec grający na pianinie. W wieku sześciu lat rozpoczął naukę gry na skrzypcach. Odrzucił jednak formalne lekcje muzyki z powodu związanej z nimi frustracji i odnalazł się w jazzie, gdzie mógł realizować palącą potrzebę improwizacji. Jest jednym z najbardziej oryginalnych i wyjątkowo utalentowanych Polskich artystów. Jest multiinstrumentalistą, kompozytorem i producentem. Inspiruje się zarówno jazzem jak i elektroniką, minimalizmem i muzyką korzeni z różnych zakątków świata. W swojej muzyce nie tyle zaciera, co kompletnie niszczy granice, aby stworzyć zupełnie nowy muzyczny język. Opanował do perfekcji grę na instrumentach dętych, w tym na klarnecie i khaen (odmiana harmonijki ustnej z Laosu). Z natury jest muzykiem poszukującym i wymyka się wszelkiej kategoryzacji. W swojej twórczości wykorzystuje także nieskończone możliwości elektroniki. W 2014 roku otrzymał nominację do Paszportu Polityki.

“Supersam + 1” is a series of master performances. The project focuses mainly on music, however, it also includes other forms of expression such as: performance, multimedia, monodrama. “SUPERSAM + 1” will present respected Polish and foreign artists whose work is original, experimental and innovative.

“SUPER” in the title means that the programme will be based on renowned artists – masters. “SAM” (from Polish, means „alone”, „by himself/herself”) refers to the solo performances as well as the creative loneliness. “+ 1” in the title means that each evening will be crowned with a duo performance. In most cases, the artists will meet on stage for the first time.

ALEXANDER VON SCHLIPPENBACH
began taking lessons at the age of eight, later he studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Cologne with composers Bernd Alois Zimmermann and Rudolf Petzold. He is one of Europe’s premier free jazz bandleaders, whose music mixes free and contemporary classical elements, with his slashing solos often the link between the two in his compositions. Schlippenbach formed The Globe Unity Orchestra in 1966 to perform the piece “Globe Unity”, which had been commissioned by the Berliner Jazztage.� He remained involved with the orchestra into the 80’s. He played with Gunther Hampel in 1963, and was in Manfred Schoof’s quintet from 1964 to 1967.� Schlippenbach began heading various bands after 1967, including a trio with Evan Parker and Paul Lovens and a duo with Sven-Ake Johansson, which they co-formed in 1976. Schlippenbach has also given many solos performances. In the late 80’s, he formed the Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra,which has featured a number of esteemed European avant-garde jazz musicians including Evan Parker, Paul Lovens, Kenny Wheeler, Misha Mengelberg and Aki Takase. In the 90’s he worked in duos with Tony Oxley, Sam Rivers and Aki Takase. In 1999 he started performing and radiorecording the complete works of Thelonius Monk, (all the compositions) with Rudi Mahall and his group „Die Enttäuschung”.

WACŁAW ZIMPEL
was born and raised in Poznań. Music has flowed through and from him since an early age; his earliest musical memories are of his father playing the piano. Taking up the violin at the age of six, Wacław Zimpel cast aside the frustrations of formal music lessons by finding salvation in jazz, harmonica and a burning desire to improvise. He is one of the most original and unique talents that have emerged from Poland. He is multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer of rare distinction. He is as much inspired by jazz as he is by electronics, minimalism and roots music from across the world. Wacław Zimpel doesn’t so much blur boundaries as eradicate them altogether to create a whole new musical language. His mastery of woodwind instrumentation including the clarinet and the khaen – a proto-harmonica from Laos – has reached world-class levels. A naturally curious musician who refuses to be boxed in, Wacław Zimpel has also applied the endless possibilities of electronics and loops to his oeuvre and, as displayed by his growing catalogue of music, is signposting the way for future generations. He was nominated in 2014 for Paszport Polityki, the most important cultural award in Poland.
